What made you decide to book the Myofascial Facial Release series?
I was drawn to this particular service because my son suffered from a tongue tie. During the time where we were going to therapy and different appointments I learned a lot about the fascia that our body has. It is intertwined in our muscle and are being. It controls a lot of our body and a lot of our components that make us unique. I figured that since majority of the time that tongue ties are hereditary, I figured that it would benefit me in a way to do the service. As I learned more about our face and what the different types of lines mean, I knew that this was a service that would highly benefit me. Being a mom and a woman in this day and age is tough. And we tend to internalize a lot of things, so this particular service would be beneficial to their working mom or even this day at home mom who needs some time for herself. A time to connect with your inner self.
What were you hoping to improve or shift when you started the series?
I was looking to improve the lines on my forehead. I called them drama lines, from all of the tea that I received from my friends and family LOL. I mean who doesn't want to look younger LOL. I also wanted to try to see what I can do holistically skin care wise.
Had you tried other facial treatments before? If so, how was this different?
In the past I have done more of a chemical approach to facials. I have done microneedling and laser treatments. Masks and different types of services. But this one does stand out to me because not only does it treat the exterior, but it also treats your inner soul. I did tell Brittany many times that I felt that I could truly relax and just unwind and not realize that 2 hours had passed by.
Can you describe any changes you noticed in your skin, face, or body throughout the series?
To me the biggest change would have to be my jawline. I do have more of a heart-shaped face, and I was definitely noticing that the inflammation or swelling I had in my cheeks went down dramatically. Also the lines that were hard in my forehead were softened as well. The facial massage that I received initially, you can feel where your face is tight. As I got deeper into the treatments that seemed to fade away, and my skin and face was lighter and more fluent with the skin rolling. I also did notice within myself, that I was feeling more in tune with my emotions. That I felt in the beginning more emotional, and I'm not sure if that is from the skin rolling and treatments that go on of Just The Art of Letting Go. Or maybe it was just Brittany having a listening ear and putting in your heart at rest and peace.
Did you feel any emotional or energetic shifts during or after the treatments?
To me I felt that I was more in tune with my emotions. When I would do my skin care at home the first few weeks I felt this odd sense of flow from my face to my body. Almost as if they were talking to one another, my lymphatic system was probably draining looking back at it now. I did feel more happier and I feel like my body knew that it was a safe space to accept the treatment wholeheartedly. Between the products, the atmosphere, the services, the music and simply the space. They all worked cohesively to put your body and mind at a state of mind that is relaxation and safety.
How would you describe the experience of receiving this type of bodywork on the face?
Initially it was odd getting the skin rolling on the face. But I did learn to like it and it did feel good after the first few times. It was never painful or awkward. Be reflexology and scalp massage occasionally was also nice. I think of it as a internal massage, although is it done on the exterior. It is working out all the pent up emotions and turmoil that we have acquired through our years on mother earth and life.
Was there a particular technique or part of the protocol that felt especially effective or different to you?
The reflexology portion with the wand that
is used on certain parts of your face and massaged on. I can feel like what I can explain a flutter feeling as if stagnant fluid is moving.
What results did you see or feel that surprised you the most?
The art of feeling at ease took over. Brittany takes the time to speak in detail of your needs. Whether you know or your body knows. There was many times where I would come after work. And she would take the extra time to double cleanse . After working 12 hrs. She made me feel so relaxed that many times I fell asleep or drifted off into space 😂. She curates each session to what your skin is speaking to her. I was badly sunburned and she still worked her magic on me. With as tender and red as I was, she cared and nurtured my skin .
Have people commented on your appearance, glow, energy since completing your series?
I have been complimented on my skin brightness . I get told I look like I'm in my 20s, which I am actually in my mid 30s. I did feel much lighter in the sense of energy . My besties did say that I looked happier and jawline snatched.
Is there anything you do differently now in your skincare or self-care routine as a result?
I take the time to actually be present in that moment. I intentionally do my skin rolling with my tool I recieved from my service. I inhale my treatment oil (smells heavenly btw) and massage my skin and just be thankful that my body has gotten me as far as it has. I try to feel whatever emotion may be feeling that day.
How would you explain this treatment to a friend who’s never heard of it?
I tell many of my friends that if you are looking for a treatment that will connect you more with your inner self then this is for you. Many times as women we tend to put ourselves last compared to our jobs and families. If you are also more on the hippie side, meaning that you are kind of not into chemicals this is a great resource as well. It almost is a self help treatment. You give your body the love and care that it is asking for on a daily basis, then it will show out for you. The products that are used are plant-based and smell so good and are so beneficial. Not to mention, the initial appointment where you sit down have some tea and get your tarot read. My favorite part is the beginning where you set your intention and relax to the sounds of white noise. Then of course the end with the sound bell.
If someone is on the fence about starting a Myofascial Facial series, what would you tell them?
I would probably ask them what kind of skin care regimen they have. I would also ask them what they are trying to "fix". If they're on the fence with filler and expensive treatments I would say to try this first and let your body do the work for you.
Invest in yourself and start small with skincare products to build your collection overtime. If you can spend $50 at dinner for drinks and apps you can do the same for something that will benefit you long term.
What was your favorite part of the experience overall?
My favorite part was coming to see Brit. She whole heartedly force yourself into each session. She can read the room and see you when it is a good day to converse over the treatment or to simply just be there to provide the service and let you fall asleep and relax into the table and the service. We shared many laughs, tears and of course her wealth of knowledge in the holistic skincare Realm. The hardest part is probably when you have to get up off the table to leave LOL. But I did love learning about all the products that she has. She is very knowledgeable in all that she chooses to use for her clients. She also takes the time to learn what you are wanting out of your skin, and makes suggestions geared towards what you are searching for. I looked forward to relaxing and the skin rolling.
How did you feel about the rhythm of coming regularly?
It was something that I looked forward to.
It was definetly hard on the tail end of the treatments. Going 2xs a week was such a treat. My favorite was coming in the evening after work. Unwind before I got home to completely relax and go to bed. I wish I could come 2xs a week forever haha. It is such a vibe at the studio. The scent and decor is thoughtfully geared towards the background of Medusa Holistic. Which is peace and inner tranquility.
Did it support your healing in ways you didn’t expect?
I learned to listen to my body more and be more present and in tune with my skin , as it is speaking.
Did anything in the series help you become more aware of your facial habits? (e.g., Clenching, frowning, posture, holding tension)
It did make my hyper alert for my shoulder posture. I feel tight at times and it really honed in on that. There are extra perks of adding different things to your service and shoulder rubs were always a plus. We hold tension in many places, which can attribute to lines on the face.
