Dealing with acne can be incredibly challenging for many reasons. Cystic acne especially can be painful, uncomfortable, and often requires a team of experts to help manage it.

Below are some guidelines that may support you and help lessen the severity of flare-ups.

Cystic acne is often an internal imbalance that shows up externally. Reducing inflammation and supporting hormone regulation can make a significant difference. Genetics also play a major role.

Lifestyle and diet observations can help you understand what may be triggering the onset or intensity of symptoms.

Emotionally, if certain areas flare up more often, tending to the emotions connected to those zones through meditation, facial reflexology, or journaling can be very supportive.

Here are a few examples from a mind/body perspective:

•Cheeks:
Both cheeks correspond to the lungs, which store grief, unprocessed emotions, and stagnation.

•Left cheek: Stomach + spleen
worry, overthinking, processing, diet.

•Right cheek: Liver + gallbladder
anger, frustration, resentment, courage, motivation.

•Chin / Jaw:

Meet my beautiful client and her journey 💕🫶🏽

This is Melissa’s third facial after completing her Myofascial Facial Release Series earlier this year. Each time she comes in she looks even more radiant ✨

I’m so proud of her for continuing the work, not just by showing up every month or six weeks for her maintenance treatments, but by staying consistent with her at-home ritual and everything she learned during her series.

She told me her “wind-down” nighttime routine has become her favorite part of the day and it brings her peace and she’s been seeing real changes in her skin.

Your body is getting used to the non-routine.

From less water intake, or new foods and oils traveling can take a toll on your body.

A break out can tell you what your body is saying depending where it is.

Breakouts around the lips and lower chin can be your ascending, transverse, and descending colon. Basically it’s letting things out before it’s “fully out”.

Your cheeks are your intestines and stomach, which means it’s not sitting well with you, perhaps a slight allergy to the food.

Letting my Venus shine ♍️💚

Virgo is in my ninth house with Venus.

The ninth house represents education and higher learning, and broadcasting.

And a Venus in Virgo like myself pays attention to the details, loves an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere, and picks up on the subtle things.

This Virgo season was packed full of beauty and love and spiritual skin care education.

I released my second oil from my own personal product line, inner compass heart grounding oil. I received so many signs that I’m doing what I’m supposed to do and that I’m on the right path. On the full moon, my sister sent me a heart orb a green heart orb, and then the day before I saw license plate with the word COMP4SS.

I started off the season as a guest speaker with @_moonmama_magic and we talked about so many amazing things, but one of my favorites was the correlation between our skin conditions and generational trauma.

I turned in all my case studies and received my certification for my Pure Energy Facial Reflexology course I took over the Summer. It was a six week course and I learned so much, and it’s been so impactful in the treatment room.

I love being able to show you a techniques you can do at home to help alleviate pain, and improve your wellness, in a simple but impactful way. 🖊️

I brought facial cupping into the studio, and started a new myofascial facial release series.

I attended the Latino Health Equity Summit and was able to connect with some great people, and share my oils and practice with them as well.

September 11 with a hard day for me. On that day, it had been 20 years since my dad passed away. I also happened to visit my mom’s neighbor’s house which used to be my grandmother’s house, basically the house I grew up in my whole childhood. She was selling the house and she let me see it before she did her open house that weekend. It hit me like a ton of bricks and it was so much emotions compounded.

Welcome to the family. This is my second oil, I’ve created from my own line.

Inner Compass Heart Grounding Oil is very dear to my heart.

In January of this year I went to the herb shop and intuitively chose 5 herbs.

Rose

Rosemary

Hawthorn

Chicory

Mullein

I knew I wanted these herbs to be heart opening. To be protective to be grounding. To help me navigate big emotions.

I let the herbs sit in my closet. I didn’t touch them until July. 6 months later. My sister passed away in February and it’s been a whirlwind ever since.

I was finally ready to create. To put in my intentions and work with these herbs together. When the sun was in cancer and the moon in Libra I put the oils together. With new bases of apricot kernel oil, and medow foam seed oil.

They sat for 8 weeks. With rose quartz and amethyst crystals on top infusing love and protection.

This oil was made for big emotions, heavy times, and moving through your grief.

Leo Season 🌞 Following my heart ❤️‍🔥♌️

Leo is in my 8th house of death and transformation.

I’ve always struggled with having such a sun loving, fun sign, tucked away in a dark esoteric house, that no one wants to talk about.

But that’s the thing. I have my life (sun), my emotions (moon), my actions (mars), my communication (mercury), and past life (south node) all in this house.

I am here to bring this Leo sunlight, to these shadow taboo topics. To death, transformation, occult, money, sex.

I believe I am finally stepping into this role. There has been so much death in my life these 36 years. From my dad, 3 uncles, 2 grandmas, 1 great grandma, 1 grandpa, 1 cousin, 3 aunts, countless miscarriages, and now to my sweet baby sister.

But I didn’t truly meet death until this year. I got to know it, sit with it and watch as it slowly introduced it self to my sister.

I know death isn’t the end. But god it hurts. I am grateful for every sign, song, picture, or person who remembers with me.

This season had my sister all over it. She was with me. She was on our Backstreet Boys trip. A bee visit at the pool, her fav flower at our table at breakfast, John Mayer playing at the restaurant.

So many people are currently hurting. Grieving. And the one thing about death is it will affect us all. There is no escaping it. I am grateful bc I am able to hold space for those who need it. I understand and even though I may cry with you it’s ok. The tears are a reminder of how much love there is. It’s weird but i feel closer to her the sadder I am.

All that being said. Is there is still joy and love and laughter. Even though there is dark. So much self care happened this month.

I do not shy away from these big feelings anymore. I am not afraid to talk about them. Bc if i can even share a little bit I know it will help
You to feel comfortable too. We need to let these hard times be heard. We heal together.

Here’s to 36, two years of beautiful clients, and the first year of an entire new chapter of building a new relationship from beyond with my best friend.

Gua Sha comes from Traditional Chinese Medicine, Facial (Reflexology), has known roots in TCM, India, and Egypt.

🖊️ Facial Reflexology

Stimulates energetic reflex zones or points on the face linked to organs + systems of the body. It balances the body from within, calms the nervous system, and supports whole-body wellness. Creating energy flow and balancing where it could be overactive.

🥄 Gua Sha (Body Gua Sha tool pictured above)

Uses scraping on the skin to move Qi + Blood, release tension, clear stagnation, and boost circulation + lymphatic flow.

Both Healing but differently.

Facial Reflexology uses the face as a map to the whole body, while Gua Sha clears blockages along the body following specific meridian lines.

Both are amazing in their own unique way.

Body Gua Sha is slightly different from facial Gua Sha as you can use a bit more pressure.

Facial Reflexology is amazing if you have trouble, relaxing. It works through your nervous system activating parasympathetic response calming your mind and body.

How to keep my skin hydrated all day long?

The trick to keeping your skin moisturized af is
L A Y E R S …. Like a skincare cake 🎂

You have to start iinternally. I love the
chrysanthemum tea from @drinktheqi, pressed celery juice, coconut water, Celtic sea salt in your h2o, or even the @tastesalud hydration packets.

Start your day off with some hot tea or lemon water. 💧 🍋 your skin and digestion will thank you.

Then follow up with mists- find some that are hydrating, cooling, and strengthen your skins barrier. This is a crucial step adding liquid topical hydration. If your mist is an essence and doesn’t have a spray, pool it into your hands and layer and press it in.

Oils!! These are your bffs!! if you struggle to find an oil that’s for your skin message me and I can give you some recommendations. When we add oil’s topically, it helps to recalibrate how much oil we are producing naturally, so it helps to balance our skin. most oils will be so rich and hydrating, from the inside out, giving you that soft, supple, plump look. There are such a thing as a “dry oil” and if you’re more acne/oily prone, this also might be a good suggestion for you.

Occlusives/ ceramides Put a lid on all that work you put in! if you don’t want the steam to escape the pot, you put the lid on it. Same thing goes for all the work you put in with your inner hydration, and your mists, and your oils seal it in with an occlusive.

SPF, Lastly, your SPF is so important because it should also contain skin care ingredients as the final whipped cream topping layer of extra protection. Antioxidant rich ingredients, that will help to prevent damage and prevent moisture loss.

The morning after BSB, I was doing my Gua sha to de puff from 3 hours of sleep and the best night ever!

I noticed my smile lines and they were deep. I then said to my best friend, “Look how much joy I had last night!” Then smiled to show how they formed.

Our nasal labial lines show how much joy, laughter, and how deep we are living into our life purpose.

Let this be a reminder that if your lines are deep, remember how blessed you in your life.

We can use Gua sha, and face massage, to soften how prominent they are. Bring in movement for blood flow, and release muscle tension.

But the goal isn’t to erase, it’s to invite more movement, flow, ease. All that which brings more joy and purpose.

This birthday definitely feels different. But I am eternally grateful for another year around the sun.

Tomorrow is also two years of @medusaholistic being an entrepreneur, and providing holistic facials.

This second year brought so much. New clients, new friendships, new products, new services.

While my personal life earlier this year was hit so hard after losing my little sister, when I finally made my way back to the studio it grounded me.

The facials became even deeper, more meaningful, and more magical. 🪶

6 months of SKIN 🥺 (emotions)

As I did my mask tonight I looked at my skin and it felt so bright and smooth.

I looked at my sunspot on my right cheek and thought how much lighter it’s gotten. Just a month ago in June, I noticed how a couple pool days darkened it immensely. Despite all my SPF efforts. (Slide 6)

This got me thinking about my skincare journey so far this year. Not only using the new @dralkaitis line, but about the huge journey it’s been on.

These past 5 months have been filled with such heavy grief after losing my sister in February. There has also been moments of joy and laughter and everything inbetween.

As I made my slide show I could see all the differences. The sadness in my eyes, the grief in my cheeks, the sleepless nights in my dark circles.

But I kept showing up. Despite how awful, or sad, or defeated, or exhausted I was. My skincare routine grounds me. It brings me peace.

When I got out of the hospital earlier this year, it’s one of the first things I did when I came home. It made me feel even just a little bit better. Even though I could still barely walk. I showed up for me in this simple but profound way.

Our face holds such wisdom, and emotions, and stories. If I can teach you one thing it’s to just love yourself in the moment. Because it literally can change day by day. As you can see. Even my grief was exiting via acne on my lungs and heart. Cheeks and nose.

Your skin, your life, anything can change so fast.
I needed this message for me. As I try and navigate the changes of my physical body. This grief, cortisol, and heaviness has consumed me physically and Im not used to the physical changes.

But seeing how my skin has transformed, with the help of these amazing products. The power of plants, and the intention of me showing up everyday. Is huge.

So much light & love has come from this astro season.

It full of LIGHT. Literal light sun 🌞 and joy and softness, blessings and ease.

A surprise special message from my dad on Father’s Day from a Trader Joe’s employee.

**She asked what plans we had and I said we were gonna have hamburgers when their dad got off work. And then I said what about you?

She said “Oh just going home”..and then she kind of said “it’s been two years, “but he’s all the way in New York cemetery”. “And I can’t visit him”. “It’s too far.”

And then I said Oh, what was your dad’s name?

And she said “Francis!” She said he was hilarious.

And I said oh I’m so sorry. Happy Father’s Day. I lost my dad too.

And she said “Oh what was his name?” and I said Larry.

And she said well. “Happy Father’s Day, Francis, and Larry!”

And then I was like this 🥹

she said “Oh don’t cry”, and I said no you don’t cry 😅.

Then she runs over to the flowers and hands me a bouquet. 💐😭**

I also want to note my father is buried at Saint Francis cemetary.

There are no coincidences.

Just as we arrived yesterday for the ALSP patient, caregiver, and doctor conference here in Philadelphia we were greeted with a giant rainbow. 🌈

My sister is here with us. Always. But especially this weekend. The way this magic is forever in my life I am eternally grateful.

I am happy that I can bring bits of this to you when you come in. The cards, the messages, the touch is all so powerful.

Taurus Season ♉️May Musing

Wow! This month has been one of my busiest months yet. Thank you thank you!! 🙏🏽

I have been working with two women all month. We are doing Myofascial facial release sessions. 8 in total. The results have been outstanding. Not only physically, but energetically, and mentally. We have all noticed such changes.

These sessions release facial adhesions, softening lines, Release muscle tension, calm the nervous system, sculpt, lift, and drain fluid.

I included two sneak peaks of their changes. Stay tuned for a full blog post of before and afters and their testimonials. This service will be available in late summer early fall.

I’ve also been studying. I’m taking a facial reflexology course. It’s 6 weeks and I’ve completed 3 lessons so far. I’m loving what I have been learning and my clients that have seen me during the month have been reeling in benefits of all this fresh knowledge. The way reflexology gently works the entire body at once and energetically resets it is amazing.

I saw many familiar and new faces this month too. So many profound facial sessions. They run so deep. You have to experience to truly understand. The way it’s magical for each guest is truly a gift. I’m honored to hold space for each and every one of you. Truly.

June is a little slower. I will be traveling and spending time with my girls. July is TBD. I’ll post open dates as the come. August will have a more consistent schedule once back to school routine is in effect.

Let your skin cycle 🔁

While it’s fun posting my fits this caption is a bit more meaningful.

These past three months my skin has been cycling.

The white shirt is the oldest video 3/22

The hat fit is 4/17

And the tan shirt is 5/1

Between all those days was countless tears and grief, three different cycles 🩸, a new skincare line I tried out, stress, joy, and everything in between.

The main scar/blemish is on my Left cheek. Which holds grief. Our lungs hold onto sadness and things we’re grieving. That’s why our breath is so important to get us through tough situations.

It navigates us through it.

The left side of the cheek also holds parts of our spleen and stomach.

What we worry about and what we’re emotionally or physically digesting.

What thoughts are we ruminating over, or constantly replaying.

I don’t tend to usually break out except for the occasional one here and there. But i knew were different because these lasted for a longer time.

This is all normal.

I know they’re normal because of the emotional state that I’m currently in. When you’re actively grieving, it comes in waves some days are better. Some days are a lot harder and your skin can take a toll.

The left side is actually the masculine side of the face from the mouth up. It then reverses to feminine from the mouth down.

With all this action on the side of my face where I show up for others, for work, for the public it’s showing that I’m being vulnerable.

I’m not holding it in. I’m talking about it. I’m letting it out. I do cry sometimes with my clients because life is hard. We’re all going through something.

Let the cycles come. When you understand your skin and how it speaks to you on a different level you will give it and yourself more grace.

Continue with your routine. Don’t pick, use red light to help heal, and breathe.

Your skin is your biggest organ and receives everything from topical products to the energy you surround yourself with.

Your routine can be easy!

This took me 2:26! I’m finally starting to feel better towards the end of the day so I decided to do my skin care routine before I made dinner.

You do not have to do your skin care routine before you go to bed. If you are staying in for the night, do it as soon as you get home because it really helps you to unwind.

I got hit with a stomach bug on Sunday and it had been lingering all day until just about now.

The one thing that always makes me feel better is when my skin feels clean and I feel relaxed.

This month is jampacked, so I’m gonna be coming back to this easy two minute routine. The whole while I was also taking deep breaths too.

You will want to do the face massage with a little bit of oil in your skin just after you’ve cleansed your face, then finish with your favorite moisturizer.
